This award winning organisation are looking for an experienced Firmware Engineer / Electronics Design Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer, with good VHDL skills and some DSP exposure to work on exciting and technically challenging projects in acoustic and Sonar Technology. This combines state of the art software, electronic hardware and firmware, with product designs capable of withstanding deep oceans.
This is a broad and highly varied Firmware Engineer / Electronics Design, multi-disciplinary role requiring both flexibility and an organized approach, and the ability to work to deadlines. Significant knowledge and experience in Firmware Design / Electronics Design is required, VHDL, DSP, along with PCB, Altium, Protel, and some programming language abilities in C, C++, or Verilog.
As a Firmware Engineer / Electronics Design Engineer, you will ideally have a good Degree in Electronics or similar, MSc or PhD. You will ideally also have abilities in Maths, DSP, some ‘C’ ( micro-controller ), VHDL (CPLD and FPGA), debugging. You may have worked in a small multidisciplinary R&D design team developing products from concept through to production over the full product development lifecycle.
The Firmware Engineer / Hardware Engineer will join a small team working on the Development of software, electronic and electro-mechanical content of new products. These are very interesting projects on the control/display of a range of sensors including sonar, video, 3D visualisation and positioning/surveying devices.

- Software/Firmware: VHDL, Verilog, DSP, C, C++
- New product inception, definition and design
- Acoustics design
- Circuit conception & design
- Digital and analogue circuit design
- Cost evaluation
- PCB layout
- Prototype & pre-production manufacture
- Prototype assessment: electrical, thermal & acoustic
- Legislation compliance (EMC, Safety, RoHs, etc)
- New product handover to production.
