Electronics Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer - Manchester

This global supplier to the Medical, Automotive, Transportation and Power markets are looking for an experienced Electronic Design Engineer / Hardware Engineer for their small R&D site in Manchester.

The Electronics Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer will have a background in electronic product development with ideally some leadership skills to mentor a team of 2 Electro-Mechanical Engineers. You will join a small engineering team responsible for the Design and Production Support of Sensor, Control and Lighting related products for Road and Rail Transportation. These products will add technologies for the next generation of EV public transport vehicles.

The Electronics Engineer / Hardware Design Engineer will ideally have the following skills, experience and fulfil the following :

• As an Electronics Engineer you will be able to design robust analogue and digital circuits

• Competent with PCB layout, PCB Design, Electronic Fault-finding, considering manufacturability and EMC design practices

• Knowledge of basic microcontrollers and programming in C, typically Microchip and Atmel

• Develop, maintain, and improve LED drivers, power supplies and control systems for       

lighting and related Sensor products

• Produce detailed Bills of Materials for products

• Produce product documentation

• Maintain existing product designs and documentation when changes are required

• Liaison with test houses to plan and execute required “Type Testing” of products

• Liaison with Far Eastern design and manufacturing partners

• Coordinate the engineering team and its priorities according to project requirements

• Work with the Engineering Manager to deliver robust product designs.
